Day 18, July 17, 9.3 miles
My absolute favorite day so far. This is what I’ve hiked 1800 miles for. The Whites are beautiful (or I guess I should say The White Mountain that I’ve seen). Mt. Moosilauke was quite a climb and quite a decent, but man was it worth it. There were spectacular views and beautiful cascades that flowed alongside the trail for the last 1-1/2 miles. Wow!!!!! Wish you all could be here. Pictures are great, but they just can’t do this scenery justice.
Thanks to all you prayer warriors, the weather could not have been better. Now just need it to stay nice for a while. They’re calling for storms tomorrow and I have another above tree-line day tomorrow with no real bailout points. Guess I’ll make the decision in the morning whether to chance it or not.
I’m at a brand spanking new hostel tonight that just opened on July 15. The owners are the cutest young couple who just got married and hiked in the Alps for their honeymoon. It’s really a nice place. They rented me a bike for $5 to ride 2 miles to town to get dinner. It was a nice change from walking. I ate a burger with mashed potatoes and had bread pudding for dessert.
I’m now at mile 1799.8, just 0.2 miles from the 1800 mile mark. From what I understand, I’m just getting to the really hard part that may slow me down a bit. I’ll get there eventually—-

Wow!!! It’s hard to believe that it’s better than the pictures because the pictures are amazing! So glad you had a great day! I could see you opening a hostile for hikers one day. 😀 Keeping you in our prayers.
