Day 4, July 3, 14 miles

Ok. So I just called in my complaint to 1-800-waa-waaa and let them know I’m completely over this blooming mud. The powers that be of Vermud could care less, so this is the last time I’ll talk about, post pictures, or whine about the mud. But, just so you know, I hate it–I lothe it. And now I’m puting my big girl panties on and  zipping my lips about it.

There really haven’t been any spectacular views and there have been a lot of PUDs (pointless ups and downs). Today I had my first river ford of this trip. There was supposed to be a bridge, but it was washed out, so the only way across was to ford. I actually enjoy fording if it’s not too scary.

Weird mushrooms

Not too much to tell today. The weather was beautiful. I only lost my shoe twice today. I leap-frogged most of the day with the brother-sister team (I call them the Ginger Twins) doing The Long Trail and I met one SoBo when I stopped for lunch. Not very many people out here. I don’t know where the thru-hikers are. I think they’re mostly behind me.

Tenting again tonight. It stinks in this tent. Actually, I stink in or out of this tent. Have worn the same clothes since I started. I’ve had one shower and I’ve done quite a bit of sweating, so you can imagine–or don’t even try really–it’s thoroughly gross!!

I’m enjoying myself. I am not enjoying Vermont. As a matter of fact I think it has bypassed Rocksylvania as my least favorite state.  Ready to get to New Hampshire. Missing my family.

Again, still no cell service tonight. Maybe tomorrow??
